Udaipur, India pt. I

April 30, 2017

Ahhh Udaipur... the Venice of the East and officially one of my favorite cities EVER. Considered one of the most romantic cities in the world, Udaipur undoubtedly lives up to its reputation.

The second we drove up to our hotel we were completely mesmerized by the whole energy of the place.  Hotel Udai Kothi was located at just steps from Lake Pichola and from the rooftop we could see the whole old city, the lake, and the famous Taj Lake Palace (AKA Octopussy's island hideaway).   After a short nap we just couldn't wait to go for a walk around the channels of Lake Pichola.   So many shops, markets, sights, and streets to explore!

One of my favorite things about Udaipur is how many restaurants there are... in our street alone there were more than five amazing ones! It made it so hard for us to decide where to go for lunch/dinner, but that is a problem I don't mind having when traveling. On our first day there, while on our way back from our walk, we stumbled upon Ambrai.  We were, originally, just doing to stop for drinks since it was early in the evening and dinner does not start till after 7:30pm in India. However, we fell head over heels in love with the place and decided to stay for dinner... the view, food, and company were absolute perfection.
